Change of Habit? Will you take the 21/40 day challenge?
Why the 21 day challenge? A change of habit will help you align your actions and desires. Too often we want something, but our actions don't match up.Scientists say it takes 21 days to change a habit¹ because we often
resist change.
According to yoga teachings ², it takes: 40 days to change a bad habit into a positive one;90 days confirms the new habit in you; 120 days allows the new habit to become who you are; 1,000 days ensures you have mastered the habit.
¹The 21 day habit theory
Sourced from The Aristotle Blog
"Dr Maxwell Maltz wrote the bestseller Psycho-Cybernetics. Originally a Plastic Surgeon, Maltz noticed that it took 21 days for amputees to cease feeling phantom sensations in the amputated limb. From further observations he found it took 21 days to create a new habit. Since then the '21 Day Habit Theory' has become an accepted part of self-help programs. Brain circuits take engrams (memory traces), and produce neuroconnections and neuropathways only if they are bombarded for 21 days in a row. This means that our brain does not accept ‘new’ data for a change of habit unless it is repeated each day for 21 days (without missing a day)."
How would your life change? Can you imagine how differently you would think, feel and behave if you had a change of habit? You can't put a price on it. Part of doing this is to practice keeping your word. Choose any small action to do for 21 days.

Change of Habit Challenge 1: A complaint free world
This challenge began in a small church in the United States. The Pastor started to give away elastics bands to encourage his congregation to remain complaint free for 21 days. Every time you complain you take the band off and put it on the other wrist. And you start the 21 days again. Until you can be go for 21 days without changing the band. The first three months of this project saw the church give away and pay postage for over a million bands. Requests have come in from around the world. SO I have taken this challenge. So far I change the band a hundred times a day ˆ WOW. And then I complain about my complaining. Interesting exercise and it certainly has increased my self awareness. Join me in this challenge and see if you can go 21 days without complaining. You can order your band from this website. You don't need to pay anything but you can make a donation.

How is your 21/40 Day Challenge Going?"I’ve become more aware of how much I complain recently and am trying to catch myself when I do. Hence it was the right message at the right time." - Louise (Johannesburg) Habits take time and consistency. I'm still on Day 1 myself, Oct 9, 2007. I've taken it a step further. I include my mental complaints too - just for now. The challenge is for verbal complaints. On some days I swap my bracelet up to forty times. But my awareness is higher and I my attitude has already shifted. So...if you're taking the challenge... ...Remember “All truly wise thoughts have been thought already thousands of times; but to make them truly ours, we must think them over again honestly, till they take root in our personal experience.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe And if you haven't started ...today is as good as any.
