How to Get the Best Out of a Change Object Lesson

Change Object Lesson Plan

  • Tell the story using your object of choice,
  • The more demonstrative you can be, the more engaged your audience will be,
  • Be dramatic and animated,
  • When you are finished, don't explain,
  • Instead ask questions,
  • Draw out of your audience what it meant to them,
  • Reflect what you hear,
  • Provoke responses through open ended questions,
  • Ask them to link the meaning to their own lives,
  • Lastly, for change to happen there must be action so,
  • Ask them to decide what steps they can take to change their lives,
  • Let them share their ideas, in pairs and groups throughout the lesson,
  • Can they share their stories?
  • Through drawings or through word?.
  • At the end allow each person to complete this sentence: I learned that in my life, I........., and I intend to ............. because...........
  • What is your follow up strategy?

Learn as much as you can about facilitation. This will make your lesson more effective.
